Matt Kerwick, Ph.D., President, is the founder of Visionary Research, Inc. Dr. Kerwick has over 20 years of experience, primarily in the technology and healthcare industries. A decision scientist and statistician by training, Dr. Kerwick has focused his career on product planning and strategy development utilizing demand-side opportunity assessment. His expertise includes research and experimental design, multivariate analysis, quantitative modeling and optimization, and web-based research methodologies. He has extensive experience applying forecasting techniques and conjoint analysis to early-stage product assessments. Typical engagements include product concept viability and optimization studies, post-launch awareness and usage tracking, customer satisfaction and loyalty surveys, market segmentation studies, as well as qualitative studies that incorporate quantitative methodologies at the individual respondent level.

Within the healthcare industry Dr. Kerwick consults on research and strategy projects that span a disparate range of therapeutic areas including cardiovascular, autoimmune, infectious disease, orthopedic, and women's health. The firm’s consulting engagements in the technology industry include personal systems, enterprise hardware and software, peripherals, communications, and consumer products. His clients include market leaders Amgen, AstraZeneca, Biogen, Dell, GlaxoSmithKline, Genzyme, HP, IBM, Microsoft, and Pfizer, as well as several technology and biotech start-ups.

Prior to founding Visionary Research, Dr. Kerwick was a partner and the Director of Research at First Market Research Corporation where he developed a full-service research and strategy consulting practice in the technology and healthcare industries.

Prior to beginning his consulting practice, Dr. Kerwick held engineering, operations, planning, research, and teaching positions at Lockheed Martin, Dell Inc., Sematech, and The University of Texas at Austin. His teaching experience includes undergraduate business statistics, graduate level stochastic processes, as well as MBA courses in statistics and market research. He is on the adjunct faculty of St. Edward's University and has previously served on the adjunct faculty at The University of Texas at Austin. He has also developed and provided training seminars in market research methods to his clients.

Dr. Kerwick has a Ph.D. in Management Science and Information Systems from The University of Texas at Austin where his research focused on optimal decision policy formulation in stochastic systems. He has published in academic and professional journals and has been an invited speaker at both academic and professional conferences. Dr. Kerwick also has a B.S.E. in Systems Engineering and a B.S. in Physics from The University of Texas at Austin and the State University of New York at New Paltz, respectively.

Dr. Kerwick is a highly skilled software developer and is the architect of his firm’s proprietary web survey system. He is proficient with Java, JavaScript, perl, PHP, SQL, SPSS, SAS, C++, and C.
